Brazil has put together the world’s largest Lego tower at 31.19 meters (102ft), breaking a previous record set by Chile by 25cm (9.8in).

Brazil’s football star Cafu placed the last bricks on top from a cherrypicker, making Sao Paolo the 44th city and 32nd country in the world with a tower built entirely out of Lego bricks.

The tower was built in the car park of the Shopping Centre Norte, and took four months to construct. It is made out of an estimate half a million individual pieces of Lego.

Lego sent designers from Denmark to Brazil to commemorate the event.

The tower is expected to stand until April 14.
