A video of a water-powered jetpack has gone viral on the internet thanks to no small amount of coverage from social media.

Priced at approximately $98,000, the water-powered jetpack, called JetLev, can propel its pilot 30ft into the air, allowing him or her to travel at 22mph over water.

The JetLev works by sucking water via a high powered vacuum and blasting it back down through its dual exhausts with sufficient force to keep its pilot hovering.

The user can control the thrust and direction of the device with an arm-stick that hangs over his or her shoulders.

Raymond Li, the developer of the JetLev, says he spent 10 years designing it and hopes to turn the expensive device into a toy for those who can afford it.
