An Ann Arbor man is charged to have intentionally driving his Hummer truck into a flock of ducklings, mangling four and injuring dozens of others.

Dillon Pierce, 19, was charged with one count of killing/torturing animals after he sped up his vehicle in the parking lot of a McDonald’s restaurant.

He was arrested at a nearby gas station while friends tried to rescue the animals.

The suspect’s lawyer, David Nacht, claims that he was actually trying to rescue the ducklings in the busy lot and suggested to employees that they move the nest, but police aren’t buying it. His lawyer called the charges “absolute baloney.”

If convicted, Pierce faces 19 years in prison.
